Service Technician (ST)

Job Description

Reports directly to whom: Service Manager

Directly Supervises Whom/What: Running Service and Maintenance Calls; No weekend work except On Call every 6 weeks.

Role: To represent Crawford Services to our customers in a way that fulfills our Mission Statement and exhibits our Core Values. To Diagnose and solve HVAC problems efficiently, accurately, and thoroughly. To recommend comfort and energy saving solutions to our clients.

Tasks and Duties:

  • Run demand service calls
  • Run preventative maintenance calls
  • Build the value of the services Crawford's provides with the customers
  • Make recommendations to our customers in alignment with the Crawford Services ideologies for excellent customer service
  • Complete all paperwork required by Crawford Services in a timely and accurate fashion

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess the company core values
  • Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to work overtime if needed.
  • Excellent customer service principles and practices.
  • Technical skills adequate to diagnose and solve most HVAC problems. The exact skill level will determine the types of jobs Crawford Services will have the technician run and usually determines the pay scale range a technician will be eligible for.
  • Must have and current driver's license
  • Must be EPA certified
  • Must be registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation


Preferred two years' minimum experience in HVAC service diagnostics, with an excellent customer service history.


  • Accurate and efficient diagnoses on demand service calls, with less than a 2% call back ratio.
  • Minimum of a 20% conversion rate for Maintenance Agreements (ESA) from opportunities provided (Non-ESA Tune-up or Demand Service Calls). The department goal is to maintain a 40% conversion rate.
  • Minimum of a 50% renewal rate for Maintenance Calls run on the last visit of customer maintenance plans. The department goal is to maintain a 70% technician renewal rate.
  • Make recommendations to customers on equipment in poor condition or past average life expectancy to have a Comfort Advisor provide information on new, higher efficient equipment. The department goal is to maintain a minimum of 5% "technician leads" turned over to the Sales Department.
  • Make recommendations to our customers for accessories and add-ons to their systems that could provide higher energy efficiency, increased safety, and add to equipment longevity.
  • Maintain an average revenue per truck day of a minimum of $800 (Residential)/$1000 (Commercial). The department goal is $1,200 (Residential)/$1800 (Commercial)
